Lesson Plan Outline

Subject: Technology in the Classroom

Age Group: 4th + 5th Graders

Essential Question: What is Google Docs used for? How can it be used effectively in the classroom?

Potential Usage of Technology: Full potential to create and share projects with classmates and the be able to access the projects individually to add and create projects without having to actually get together to apply changes to the project.

Authentic Assessment: Authentic assessment is the measurement of "intellectual accomplishments that are worthwhile, significant, and meaningful," as contrasted to multiple choice standardized tests. Authentic assessment can be devised by the teacher, or in collaboration with the student by engaging student voice.

The Authentic Assessment would be the ability to create something that is not standardized but is using creativity among the students, all being able to share and create with each other but not having to find the time to all meet up at once to make a project complete. Plus, the Google Docs include programs like Powerpoint and Excel; so that the students can slowly add material as it is gathered. With google drive, this allows the user to save the content and then others to open and access and change the content to contribute to the project. Throws standardized testing out the window.
