Books and literature have a long history of being banned/challenged. Besides literature, what other forms of censorship do you notice in your day-to-day life?

  1. 1.) Give at least one example of censorship or banning/withholding information (this can include internet, online video, video games, movies, news, trade agreements, police dash/body camera footage, comics/cartoons, social networking, graphic novels, textbooks, curricular materials, music, or any other form of media).

  2.

  3. 2.) Describe potential reasons or rationales for the censorship (you may have to do some research)

  4.

  5. 3.) Then take the opposite perspective and argue for why the censorship could potentially be harmful.

  6.

  7. 3.) How might this issue connect to authentic, meaningful educational experiences?

1. The general chat in a lot of online video games, forums, chats, discussion boards are all censored by the moderators; who in all reality are just people given the special button or piece of software to delete or omit certain words, or spam, or CAPITAL LETTER TYPING.

2. Spamming, Capital letter typing, annoying emails; that kind of censorship I feel is a good reason for censorship. I don't want to be slammed with people hitting copy paste 1000000000 times about which president they want.

3. This is always harmful, because even though it's annoying; you are technically taking what America is based on and that is the "Freedom of Speech"

4. Anything taken out, has already been said by someone. That is technically deleting history as it's happening, and directly omitting something from ever happening. So, if we learn from our history; and certain things "never" happened the likelihood of it happening again is much higher than if people pretend these things don't happen or exist.
